I have this bag of stuff that helps me on a daily basis, working on things like speech and writing. Its not really a bag of doom but I like to call it that because I've got to do it in order help myself!

I came out of hospital and 2 months later I got a PA Lucy Bradshaw who supports me with everyday things, she is great and is local to Oxfordshire. Here is her link to her business website

Right at the beginning of my recovery I used a laminated sheet of the Alphabet to help me learn it and speak it. I highly recommend using something like this and make it personalized to you. Mine was personalized to me as you'll see here:

Here is a document of the alphabet for you to use.

When I see Lucy, my PA we go through activities like the Days of the week which you can see below and download as a document. I speak these out one by one and then my PA points to which ones I then speak out.

The next one we do is Months of the Year. Lucy will point as which ones I then speak out and then she will ask me what event happens in which month. For example 'Lucy will say what month is Easter and I will say April'

We also go through 'describing what is happening' For example 'Behind, In front of, next to the lady/man. We usually go through a newspaper to find images of people, animals or anything else.

We have a sheet for numbers that we go through. Lucy points at random numbers and I repeat what they are.

We go through 'Matching Dates' and 'Matching Times'. There are 3 columns. For example: with dates it will be 22/10/2017 then 22nd October 2017 then 22nd of the 10th 2017. Same thing with times.

We have a sheet that helps me with 'he', 'she', 'her', 'him' etc..

To help me with times I go through clock work where Lucy will tell me a time and I will draw it on the clock. In this document, there are clocks and times for your go through. I also do the same with the alarm clocks and match them up.

Lucy did some flash cards that helped me with those little words for example: 'We' 'if' and 'here'. Over time there were more longer words added for example 'where' 'there' and 'Saturday.' Doing these repetitively helps me to make and speak in sentence's. They are every day important words and the document includes all sorts of words.

We do a lot of work on sentences and to help me with this I use 'Story Cards Original' I pick one of each card subject and make a sentence out of it. I really do like doing this as I find it fun and its something different.

Here is the link where you can find them. Story Cards Original (yesbebe.co.uk)

I recommend a clock like this one to help with telling the time. You can get them in various of places but here is a link to one we found: Goki Wooden clock – Beesybox

Easy to follow recipes

As I love to cook, I find it difficult to follow a recipe from a cook book as it can be so much information and I struggle to read it...
